Advertising and Sponsorship

Advertisements and sponsorship, if introduced, must be visibly separate from editorial content. They must not determine which manuscripts are reviewed, accepted, promoted as scholarship or cited.

The publisher assesses proposed advertising for relevance, accuracy and suitability. Advertising that promises publication, promotes citation manipulation, misrepresents qualifications or could mislead readers about the journal’s independence is not acceptable.

A sponsored issue or activity must disclose its funder and the funder’s role. Sponsorship does not permit a funder to choose favourable reviewers, suppress findings or bypass normal editorial requirements.

Publication of an advertisement does not constitute endorsement by the editors or authors. Any concern about misleading promotional material may be sent to the editorial office.
